WHO AM I?

I’m called Rik Speed, though I often use newneedles for various projects and whatnot. I make drawings, paintings, comics, and other kinds of cool nonsense.

I’ve lived many lives in many places. My parents were fairly nomadic when I was growing up, so I can’t really say anyplace in particular is ‘home’. For now, I can be found kicking cans down the road in the American South.

The work I make is attention-grabbing, rough, raw, and heavy. I feel no need to create beautiful things, though some of the things I create might be beautiful to you. In my work, I address themes of cowardice, greed, fear, dishonesty, and ofc the inescapable maw of capitalism.

I’m extremely interested in comics, particularly their language and mechanics. I find the medium to be endlessly inventive and a terrific way for very smart people to make very creative things.
